Keeping An Open Mind

Keeping An Open Mind

Please watch this quick video about keeping an open mind as your going through your journey to getting your first job in the healthcare industry.

Key points:

  • [1:03] I am proud of you for taking the first steps to achieving your goals and you should be proud of yourself too.

  • [2:22] Many coding schools out there mislead students into thinking they will get a coding job right away.

  • [3:40] Your first job may not be a coding job. It may be a foot in the door type job such as patient rep position or working denials.

  • [4:24] I will never tell you to give up on finding a coding job. Seek out coding jobs and apply to them later on in the modules. Prepare to go on coding interviews. But also be aware that there are other types of jobs that coders can do, and you may be offered one of those jobs as your first position.

  • [4:41] Most (99 percent) of my students accept that fact and are ok with looking for a job that is similar to coding, as well as also looking for a coding job. If you fall into the 1 percent that is not ok with that, please pause a moment and email me so I can talk to you. I want to support all of you no matter where you are in your journey to getting a job in the industry.

  • [6:18] Part of my role as your coach is to be honest and upfront with you about everything. I do not sugarcoat the industry or give you any misleading information. I just want everyone to be aware of how the industry is and to keep an open mind from day one.
