FAQ section
Here's what most future coders ask
Not at all. This course is designed for beginners, career changers, and anyone ready to learn medical coding from the ground up. I break everything down step-by-step and give you the tools (and confidence) to succeed.
No, it’s not required.
But I highly recommend it if you’re brand new to medical terms or haven’t studied anatomy in a while. Understanding the language of medicine will make your coding journey smoother.
I offer a separate course called Medical Foundations for Future Coders, designed specifically to help you get confident with terminology, body systems, and pathophysiology before jumping into coding. It’s self-paced, low-pressure, and built to give you a strong head start.
Yes! This program prepares you to take (and pass!) the AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam. You’ll learn ICD-10-CM and CPT, HCPCS coding, how to use your coding books effectively, and test taking strategies.. You’ll also get my exclusive bonus content, including CPT highlighting tips and real-time Q&A sessions—to help you feel fully prepared.
The short answer: Maybe—but not always.
AAPC offers Practicode as a way to simulate on-the-job coding experience. It includes 600 real-world coding cases you can work through, and if you complete it with a passing score, it can remove one year of the two-year experience requirement for the CPC-A designation.
But here’s the thing: Practicode isn’t a job. It’s not a magic shortcut.
It’s a tool and it’s not something every new coder needs.
🔍 So who should consider Practicode?
✅ You don’t have a coding-related job yet
✅ You want structured case-based practice after certification
✅ You’re aiming to move from CPC-A to CPC faster
🙅♀️ Who might not need it?
❌ You already have a job in healthcare or medical billing
❌ You’re getting on-the-job experience
❌ You’re not interested in doing extra unpaid coding work post-certification
🧠 How I handle it in my course:
Because not all students need Practicode, I offer it as a separate add-on after you enroll. This way, you’re only paying for it if it’s the right fit for you. I also provide optional support if you choose to complete it—including portal access, Q&A help, and live support options.
📌 Bottom line: You don’t have to decide right away.
Once you’ve completed the course and passed your CPC exam, we’ll talk through whether Practicode makes sense for your career path.
I’m here for you! You can ask questions in our weekly live sessions, email me anytime, or post in the student portal. I also include 1 on 1 Zoom sessions for additional support if needed.
You’ll get over 140 short, focused videos, weekly live Zoom sessions, email support, and access to our private study portal. The course also includes 676 built-in practice questions to help reinforce what you’re learning every step of the way.
